contents of "my network places" dissapeared

i have 4 computers running xp on a small network. for some reason, the
contents of the "my network places" folder are gone on each machine. prior
to today, they displayed "shared folder on (machine name)" folders from each
machine. where did it all go? how do i get it back?

Paul,

The contents of "my network places" are provided by a process known as the
browser (not Internet Explorer either). If there's a browser problem, it's most
frequently caused by a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall, or other
security component. There are several other possibilities too, and any might be
the cause of your problem. Read this article with an open mind.
