I have several hundred contacts now. In order to simply the search, I would
like to seperate contacts into two groups: Current or Old. Can someone
advise how to set it up or any alternative way.

I would like to seperate contacts into two groups: Current or Old. Can
someone advise how to set it up or any alternative way.

Two approaches: 1) Create two categories: one called "Current" and one
called "Old" and assign the categories to the appropriate contacts. Then
display the contacts folder in the "By Category" view. 2) Create a second
contacts folder called, say, "Old Contacts" and move the contacts you
consider "old" to that other folder.
