contacts slow to load

How can I speed up contacts loading process-I have 2,000 contacts -why do
they have to reload each time ? I turned off auto complete to speed up time
it takes to open and compose an email so each time I send an e mail I must
open this extremely slow contacts process-suggestions are appreciated
 
That's just the way Windows Mail is. There is no fix for that.
Let's hope the new Windows Live Mail client being released
later this month is much better.

There's been no updates to Windows Mail in the past 2.5 years since it was
released with Vista.
It's been deprecated in favor of the newer Windows Live Mail program.
