Is WLM as slow as WM?

I've tried to speed up the super slow WM, but I've only got minor
improvement. It still takes close to 10 seconds for a "New Message" window
to open. Before I switch to WLM can anyone tell me if after I import my
contacts and messages, will WLM be as slow as LM or is it a completely
different program?

It's a mostly different program although both programs used the same
development team. I'm sure they reused some WM code for WLM.
The best way to find out whether it will perform better for you is to
try it. There is no drawback to just trying it.
