Contacts Search Not Working - Windows Mail

I have a new Vista Premium 64-bit system. The Contact List was created via
Import of the .wab from prior XP Home/SP2 Outlook Express address book.
There is a main listing in the Contact Folder, with several sub-folders,
each with its own Contact Group.

If I'm searching for a contact, if I open up contacts and just start typing,
the search function works, and will zero in on the contact I'm looking for.

But if I click in the "Search" box, and start typing, nothing is found,
despite the contact being present. If I type a single letter, a contact or
two will show up (which don't start with that letter, interestingly enough)
sometimes, sometimes nothing, depending on the letter.

What's up with the Search function??

Thanks.

Sorry I have no clue, since my contacts are not set up like yours.
You might give Windows Live Mail a try to see if it works better
for you. To upgrade to Windows Live Mail:

Thanks for the reply, Gary.

This is a brand-new system, with this odd quirk, so I thought it might be a
known issue.

Thought I'd add this:

I just ran Windows Update, installing Windows Search 4.0 for Windows
Vista x64-Based Systems (KB940157), and it fixed the search problem.
It now works as it should.
