contacts problem

Whenever I open a mail message, and select the "to" box to open my contacts,
I get an error message that is titled "Microsoft LDAP Directory" followed by
the message, "Can't contact LDAP directory server (81). When I click "ok"
another box opens saying, "select names" where I can now go to a drop down
menu, select contacts, and finally access my contacts folder. It's an awful
lot of steps to get there. Wondering if there's a way to fix the error
message. FYI -- the problem started when I started using Office on Vista.

message indicates you have not configured your Outlook Address Book Service
