Contacts not showing up in Outlook 2007

After reinstalling Outlook 2007 on my new Vista laptop i exported/imported
the Contacts file. None of the old contacts are listed now but I can search
these and then they show up. It seems the old contacts are filed elsewhere
but how do I locate them? Also having problems syncing data with my Mobile 6
device, (maybe not relevant). Any advice appreciated

Exporting and importing are never the correct way to transfer Outlook data
as you and others continue to demonstrate. Moreover, there is no such thing
as a "Contacts file."
State more accurately what you did. Read the countless posts here that tell
you how to migrate Outlook data properly and post back with what you don't
understand.

Read the countless posts here that tell you how to migrate Outlook data
properly

That should have read "Read the replies to the other 12 posts you have made
on the same subject..."
Just killfile the idiot.

If this idiot has posted 12 times this might be because the board software
retuned messages to me over three days that my post was unsuccessful. Also,
searches on this subject did not appear to offer a solution.

I may be an idiot - but I'm at least a courteous fool without an anger issue

Then by now you surely know that you should never have been using the "board
software" and use a newsreader instead.

And you haven't SEEN a) all your posts and b) the REPLIES to all those
posts?
Did you LOOK AT ALL?

Gordon - it must be really nice to feel so superior that you have to show it.
I thought this board was there to offer advice to individuals like me who,
according to you, have trouble walking and chewing gum at the same time. Not
to give space for rants. Your somewhat calmer co-author has suggested I use
'readers' and I will take that advice and resaerch how that works. Have a
nice day - and watch the blood pressure !

My blood pressure is fine thanks.
It's just that by ignoring all the replies to your many posts, and by just
posting again and again and again without actually LOOKING to see what's
going on, you have probably alienated all those who were trying to help and
have now "plonked" you...
