Outlook 2003 Contacts

Trying to export contacts from another computer with Outlook 2003 to a new
laptop with same program. Can't make it happen. Using flash drive and I keep
getting a message that I need to update the Outlook Connector, which I do,
then the same message comes up.

So, tried to use my Blackberry sync software to back up contacts on
Blackberry to Outlook. Message comes up--no message stores. (?)

Made an excel file of the old computer Outlook contacts--will not import to
new computer.

Best I could do so far is to sync Blackberry to Windows contacts--but I want
to use Outlook.

<sigh> Did you do ANY research before attempting this at ALL?
As posted in ALL the Outlook groups at least daily - do NOT use the
import/export function to move data from one Outlook to another.

There is out-dated information on some of these pages, specifically with
regard to Outlook 2003 and 2007.

The main points to note:
1. Do NOT use the import/export function to move Outlook data from one
version to another - all you need to do is to copy the pst file, with
Outlook closed.

2. Do NOT paste the copied pst file into the default location - paste into
(for example) your Documents folder and then do File-Open-Outlook Data File
within Outlook.

Well here's the thing--I forgot to mention that after reading everything I
could find, the first thing I did was follow the directions regarding making
a .pst file and copying it. It didn't work. I tried that repeatedly--then
thinking something might have been corrupted I tried everything else,
including uninstalling and re-installing. I didn't think that you wanted an
account of the non-stop trouble I've had trying to set-up a new laptop from
an older one.

I even had the naivete to post with self-effacing humor, an effort to make
my predicament a bit entertaining.
Your rudeness makes me want to be rude to you.

I did the research, I've been on the phone with many different, inadequately
trained support people--after days of transfering from Windows XP to Vista,
IE 7 to IE 8, etc. etc., just because I spent 3,000 bucks on a new laptop.

I'm a moment away from transfering my entire office to Mac like everyone
else. Why don't I get the message? Not only does everyone with a Mac talk
non-stop about their happiness with their product, now we last hold-outs have
to be insulted when we try to make these constantly upgraded systems stay
compatible.
Way to go.

Well why didn't you say that then? There are many posts on here by people
asking the same old questions time after time after time, when a little
research would have given them the answers in less time than it took to
post.
And what does "didn't work" MEAN?
Describe the EXACT steps you took and what happened when you took them.

Considering that your question is asked and answered at least once a day on
most of the Outlook newsgroups, I do not consider that what I said was
either insulting or condescending...
If you'd googled your question you would have found thousands of hits.....

possibly be so sure about everything--especially when you're wrong.

And your next post will be something like "I can't see any contacts in the
Addressbook" because importing a pst file usually results in a corrupted
mail profile - which you would have seen if you'd googled.

No variations at all. Just copy the pst file and open it in Outlook - as
it's always been.

Just trying to avoid all the complications you are going to get by importing
without researching first....

You've made your point -- that was never my quarrel. You are incredibly
inappropriate to be posting advice. Go for a walk. There's more in the world
than trying to prove yourself filled with exasperation over those who have

Well, Gordon is correct that importing from a PST is not the best way. Time
stamps change, for one thing, and items like Distribution Lists generally fail
the import completely.
