Cannot delete contacts in Outlook 2003

When I try to delete some contacts in Outlook I get error message "The
messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists
restart outlook". The problem continues to persist regardless of restarting
Outlook.

I cannot even delete one contact. I am running XP and office 2003 outlook.
I did
restart outlook and even uninstalled and reinstalled office 2003. Still I
cannot delete a contact.

I sync my data with my BlackBerry Curve. My blackberry has the correct
data, so I just want to delete the contacts in Outlook 2003 before I sync.

Uninstalling/re-installing will not do any good - problem lies in your
Outlook PST file. Is the assumption correct that this problem started after
the "sync"?

#1 - Try running ScanPST on your PST file - there is an off-chance that it
may solve the problem (but suspect it won't)
#2 - If this problem occured after the "sync" - you should contact the
support folks for the "sync" software in use since it's a 99.99% chance that
it's the cause of the issue - something has been modified by the sync
software that Outlook can't deal with at the contact item level but it's not
an Outlook issue. Outlook is in no way involved with the sync process.
