Contacts Not In The E-Mail "To" List. Why?

Hope I can explain this.

I recently changed PC's and was able to export my Outlook file from my
old PC and import it fine into my new Outlook. My contacts are all
here right where they should be with e-mail address, etc.

However, when I am composing a new e-mail and I click on the "To" to
drop in an e-mail address of one of my contacts, the "Select Name" box
comes up but is empty. None of my Contact's information is there like
it used to be so I can scan down, click on who I want to send to and
have it drop into the e-mail message like before.

I know I could go to the contact insert and select "send new message"
but I want to send messages to a number of contacts at once and used to
use this box to quickly grab who I wanted.

Can anyone think of a reason Outlook would not show my contact's names
and e-mail addresses in this box any longer?

Thanks!

Is the "Show this folder as an email address book" box checked here: Right
click on the Contacts folder, choose Properties, go to the Outlook Address
Book tab

Hi,

I went to the tab you mention but the "Show this folder as an email
address book" is grayed out and it will not allow me to select ANY
contact folder at all.

Any other ideas?

You need to add the Outlook Address Book service.

What version of Outlook are you using? If you're using OL2003, go to Tools
menu > Email accounts > Add a new directory or address book
