Contacts folder trouble

After a registry failure and barely able to boot back into Windows XP, I'm trying to
move my Outlook .PST files over to another PC by using the import/export tool.
Everything has been restored - including my Contacts folder. But when I try to address
a new email message by pressing the TO button I get this error:

The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this
address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have
permissions.

Now you see why importing is not the correct way to transfer data.
Just reuse your old data file.

Don't use import/export. Just copy the existing PST to the other machine
and use File>Open>Outlook Data File to open it.

Right-click the Copntacts folder, choose Properties and click the Outlook
Address Book tab. Check the "Show this folder and an E-mail Address book"
box. If the box is grayed out, add the Outlook Address Book service to your
profile (exact steps require knowing your Outlook version, which you didn't
think important enough to mention) and then do the above.
