Contacts are blank when clicking "To"

I have outlook 2007 when I try select an email address by selecting clicking
the "To" icon in a new blank email there are no addresses listed it is just
blank. When I click the Contacts tab on the left panel and look under MY
Contacts I show several contact folders that all have contacts that I have
created in the past on another computer and then imported via the import
wizzard to this computer when I installed Vista and office 2007. If I right
click on one of those contact folders and go to properties and the Outlook
Address Book tab. The check box "show this folder as an e-mail address book"
is grayed out. how can I change this?

This is one of the many problems that occur when you use the import function
to move data from one Outlook to another. A modicum of research would have
told you never to use import/export to move data from one Outlook to
another.

Check that the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right
click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is
the box to enable as email address book is checked?

If the the checkbox is grayed, you'll need to
make a new profile as you can't add the Outlook Address Book service in 2007
due to
a bug.

If you have Contacts in the Contacts folder but they are not accessible when
you click on the To button, check these settings:

Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right
click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is
the box to enable as email address book is checked?

If this is grayed out...

Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change existing directories or
address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present? If it isn't listed, add
it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed, then remove it and close
then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add it.

If you are using Outlook 2007 and the the checkbox is grayed, you'll need to
make a new profile as you can't add the Outlook Address Book service due to
a bug.
