Contact disappears after added and saved

If I enter a contact with no email address, but does have a home address or
phone number, after I save a close the contact it does not appear in my
Contact List. Additionally, I 'search' for it using the find option, the
contact is nowhere to be found. However, if I try and enter it again,
Outlook indicates it's a duplicate entery. Where are my contacts
disappearing to?

What do you mean by "Contact List?" Where are these Contacts not appearing
that you think they should? Contacts without electronic addresses would not
be expected to appear in the address book view, for example. There would be
no use for them there.

They are no where to be found in my Address Book... however, I do have other
'contacts' in my address book with no email address that appear (these are
from a .pst file from a previous version of Outlook-2003 that I imported, not
newly added) but I cannot add newly added contacts without an email address.
Additionally, what I find the oddest is if I try to re-enter the contact,
Outlook indicates it's a duplicate entry.

Read my reply again. As I already said, Contacts without electronic
addresses will not and should not appear in the address book view. Why
should they? You can't send a message to them, can you?
They appear in your Contacts Folder, which is where all Contact data
resides.

I do understand what you're saying it's just not consistent with what is
currently visible in the address book which is why I'm questioning what's
going on... Some contacts are visible without an Electronic Email Address
while some are not.

Of course. I never said anything about email addresses. I said electronic
addresses. All fax numbers, pager numbers, and mobile phone numbers are
electronic addresses.
Again, a Contact without any electronic address cannot appear in the
Outlook Address Book.

This is a most unhelpful, perverse, and obtuse reply. What on earth is THIS
supposed to mean?

"Of course. I never said anything about email addresses. I said electronic
addresses. All fax numbers, pager numbers, and mobile phone numbers are
electronic addresses. Again, a Contact without any electronic address cannot
appear in the Outlook Address Book."

For the record, I and millions of others have dozens of contacts in our
Outlook folder that have none of your so-called "electronic addresses." They
have been there for years with no problems or disappearance. As for your odd
question as to why one would want to use such a contact. Isn't the reason
obvious? So that you have a record of someone's street address in the
not-so-unusual event that you might not have the rest of their contact data.
Moreover the contact without the "electronic address" clearly does have a
function. It's called Mail Merge. You may be aware that Word has such a
capability.

In the meantime, you still haven't answered tclasen's question, which is why
does he/she, and so many of the rest of us (lest you doubt our numbers,
consult Google), suddenly experience the disappearance of random Outlook
contacts?

Fact remains: Contacts without electronic addresses do not and cannot appear
in the Outlook Address Book.
Of course they appear in the Contacts Folder.
Can't tell what your question is. State it clearly along with steps to
reproduce the behavior you are seeing. Here are some guidelines for posting:
