HELP! If this is not the correct newsgroup for this post
I applogize. I have a compaq preario notebook that had
win me installed and it would continually boot to safe
mode. I decided to upgrade to win2k pro but I get to the
point that it is about ready to launch the installer and
it tells me that the ntfs.sys file is corrupt. I tried to
boot from the cd and install winXP pro, it gets to a
certain point then restarts, and does it again. I am out
of ideas at the moment and any suggestions to getting an
os back on the notebook would be greatly appreciated1
sincerly,
Michael

The only sugestion I can come up with is that maybe your
presario's bios is quite old and could do with an upgrade
in order to be fully convesant with XP or 2000, The
Compaq/HP site has all the latest BIOS updates for all
their products.

Hope this helps.

I feel like an idiot! I didn't even think of
checking/trying to update the bios! Thanks for reminding
me! I will try to see if there is an update and go from
there!
Sincerly,
Michael
