Constant "Error Report" Prompt

Tim

I am compiling a slideshow in WMM. I constantly get told
that WMM has encountered an error and must close. The
error report details are as follows:
AppName: moviemk.exe
AppVer: 2.0.3312.0
ModVer: 6.5.1.900
ModName: qedit.dll
offset: 0000ad31
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

I doubt that this applies, but just in case...If you have DirectX 8.1 or
earlier installed and have two programs trying to use this dll at the same
time, the second program will crash. This is a forced condition by
Microsoft. I can guess at several reasons why, but that will just cloud the
issue.

I would suggest that you do the following (if you have not already done so)

Install the latest version of DirectX from Microsoft (I think the latest is
Ver 9.0b)
Install Windows Media Player 9.

If you still have the problems after doing the above, let us all know and we
will see what can be further done.

Hi Tim,

There are some previous posts about messages involving QEDIT.DLL on the
Problem Solving... Software Modules page of the website.

Mr. Kelly,

I installed the latest version of DirectX from the
microsoft website and I am still having the same
problem. It appears to come up when I attempt to edit
the audio clips that I have imported into my collection.
When I add the audio file into my storyboard and
manipulate it, I get the error message and MM2 closes. I
have not had the problem at any other time other than
when I am working with the audio files. Thanks for any
and all help.

Hi there,

It looks then as though you have a codec problem. Take a look at the
problem solving page, Codecs and Acceleration of www.papajohn.org. That
should fix you up.
