Connectivity problems with Service Pack 2

I have just installed SP2 with my XP Home.
I am connected through a wireless LAN with no previous problems, but since I
installed SP2 the wireless icon at the bottom shows there is no connection.
Searching the network connections at the control panel also shows an
inactive wireless connection. However, I am connected, I surf the web, etc.
Nevertheless, I keep getting a message balloon every 2 minutes saying that a
wireless connection could not be established, as I click the message
balloon, a small window appears prompting me to repair the problem. I click
the relevant button and it eventually re-connects for another 2 minutes
while showing that no wireless connection is active. The dialog window
informs me that the connection could not be repaired even though the
connection has been re-established. After 2-3 minutes the problem starts all
over again.
If I connect through a dial-up modem, I surf a couple of minutes and then
the transfer of packets stops altogether.
What can I do short of de-installing Service Pack 2?

Network connection Power Management - disable : Start/run, type DEVMGMT.MSC
, then rightclick each connection device, Properties, uncheck the box on the
Power Management tab.
