Recently subscribed to Roadrunner. It connects to the
internet fine for about 5 minutes then page not found
after that. A MAC works fine with no problem. When the
internet connection goes away a restart buys another 5
minutes. Deleted cookies ane temp internet files.
Defaulted Internet connection in IExplorer. Also noted
cpu activity when nothing is running , sometimes 80%.
Tried to reinstall XP but service pack 2 prevents this
because it is a newer version than original disk.

Bill,

When it "goes away", but before you reboot, do some tests.
From a command window:
1) Ping www.yahoo.com.
2) Ping 66.94.230.33.
Report success / exact text of error messages.
From your browser:
3) Browse www.yahoo.com.
4) Browse 66.94.230.33.
Report success / exact text of error messages.

Please provide ipconfig information for this computer, and for the Mac.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
Identify operating system (by name and version) with each ipconfig listing.

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

Bill,

please have a look at http://www.michna.com/kb/wxnet.htm.

I don't think you need to reinstall XP, but if you ever have to,
the procedures are described in
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm.
