I checked a couple of posts and didn't find the answer yet.
Here is the situation:
Roadrunner cable -> Modem -> Linksys rounter -> cables to computer A and
computer B, A running WinXP SP2 home edition, B running WinXP SP2
Professional edition.
I want to share files between A and B. Both A and B are re-named in the same
workgroup "Mygroup". Days ago, I saw the other computer from one computer.
Worked. After this, I didn't check the networking anymore, and I probably
turned off computers, unplugged cables or did other things. Today I could NOT
see A from B, or see B from A anymore. I ping A's IP address from B and got
response and ping B's IP address and got response too --- to make sure I
understood PING correctly, I turned off B and Ping B's previous IP address
and I got "time out" message. However, in "Mygroup" I could not see the other
computer! I tried to type computer name in the address bar but could not find
the other. I tried to search computers and failed to find the other.
What's going wrong? Please help! Thanks.

Thanks for help.

Before I go home to test, could you please clarify what "sharename" is? My
understanding is that I need type something like "\\34.33.22.141\Tony", say
34.33.22.141 is the IP address of computer A, and computer A's name is Tony.

Oh, one more thing, after reading your website, I recall that my computer A
and computer B have very different IP address, A is 34.33.22.141 and B is
67.xx.xx.172 something. This is not right, is it? Maybe last time when two
computers saw each other, were the IP addresses kind of similiar (first three
numbers were the same)?

Also, the Linksys rounter I mentioned is "Linksys 10/100 5-port Workgroup
Switch". Not sure it is okay. The switch gets both computers to the internet
no problem.

Again, thank you very much!
