A Windows XP Pro workstation must use a dial-up to the bank to transfer a
file every few days.
This is done with hyperterminal.
We have a Windows server and a Linux server on our network.
The problem is that after the modem makes the usual noises and connects,
hyperterminal comes up with the login prompt for our Linux box and not the
bank.
I tried disabling the network connection in XP. To verify it is disabled, a
quick check in device manager shows a red X on the network card, I can't
ping any address, and mapped drives are not available.
Hyperterminal still gives our Linux login prompt.
Unplugging the network cable is the current solution, login to the bank
works as required.
Any ideas as to what is wrong?
I would expect hyperterminal to login to the connection dialed.
I would also expect disabling the network connection to prevent it.
TIA
