I have an old VCR wich I would like to connect to my laptop. I have an
S...port. How do I proceed. I want to save my old VCR movies on my computer.

Look in the manual to see if it supports analogue in signal. If yes, find
the programme that uses this port, capture VHS.
I suspect not, so it means buying an analogue to digital convertor, plugging
this into a firewire port on the pc and then use Movie maker. This assumes
you have firewire and XP. You can buy USB models, but these have their own
problems.
