I have a Webserver running on Windows XP Professional. I have IIS 5.1 which
is hosting my website. I have a static IP that is registered with a domain.
If you were to connect to the website through a web browser, you CAN access
it. This tells me that the server does have an active connection to the web.
Now, when I sit in front of the server, locally, I CAN NOT go to any website
that is online. I can't do updates, and it seems like I can't connect to the
internet. What can I do?

In Recap:
-I have a webserver
-I can access the site
-I cannot get online from the server

Can you not get online by URL, or by IP address? Diagnose a DNS problem, first.

Also, how about some history of the server, and of the connectivity problem.
How long has the server been setup? How long has it had this problem? What
security software does it have?

Can you access the website from outside your LAN? Describe your LAN please.
