Connecting to ODBC through Access 2003

Hi,
Windows XP Pro SP2
Access 2003
I have setup an ODBC and I open access 2003 and go to file-get external
data-import-go to odbc databases on the filetype drop down and the dialog
box disappears. Any ideas?

trying to figure that out for months now.
