Connecting to ISP with WIN2000

About two months back an electrical storm caused a
problem. Had a Pentium I with 98SE through broadband
wireless router to ISP DSL modem. Second computer WIN2000
with wireless connection working well. Following storm
98SE would not hookup and in general did too many wrong
things.
Change to WIN2K directly to ADSL modem. Can not hook up
through NIC card. What is the secret?
My ISP says WIN2K is a problem and they don't have
knowledge to help. Also tried new ADSL modem that was
known to function properly, no luck.

Is the Windows 2000 NIC enabled in Device Manager? Is it set to get a
network address and DNS addresses automatically? Have you rebooted both the
router and the PC?

All has been rebooted. I will double check, but I think
all is set to get addresses automatically. I believe the
device manager indicates the NIC is enabled. Also an item
to verify tonight.
