connecting to internet

BDECKED

Hi all, hope someone can help.

WE are running Windows XP upgrade from Win 98 and
everything was working fine until a few days ago when we
couldn't log on the the internet with IE. Our connection
is OK as we also have AOL and connection through them is
OK. We get a message saying "IE has experienced a problem
and is shutting down. WE have tried the following:

downloading a new version of IE but we gwet a message
saying we have a later version and installation of the new
version stops.

re-installing Windows XP but are told the OS already
exists and we can't reinstall.

WE thought of un-installing IE in order to install a new
version but have been unable to figure out how to un-
install.

Would appreciate any help/direction to fix this problem.

Thanks

Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove and scroll down to Microsoft
Internet Explorer and highlight. Click add/remove and choose the "repair"
option

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
