connecting to a network printer

Terry

we have a small home network with a lexmark printer connected to PC1. I am
running xp on a laptop. I would like to use the printer. this is what
occurs when I run the add printer wizard.
On the 'local or network printer screen' I select network printer.
'On the specify printer screen' I select browse for printer.
on the next screen it displays all the pc in the network and their
printers. when I select the printer on PC1 I get the error message "access
denied".
what do I need to do to get access to the the printer? ( PC1 is running
Windows 2000)

Thanks for any help.

Click on Start - Printers & Faxes (on the PC1). Right click the printer you
wish to share and choose Sharing. Put a check in "Share this printer" and
give the printer a share name in the window. OK your way back out and you
should now be able to access this printer from the laptop.
