connecting pc to a tv-help please!

I'm not sure if this the right board to post on so if it's not please point
me in the right direction!
Could someone please tell me how to connect a laptop to a tv? we've bought a
vga cable and plugged it into the tv and pc, on starting up the computer it
looks great with the picture showing on the tv and the monitor on the laptop.
but once the windows loading screen (the one with windows and a scrolling bar
in the middle of the screen) finishes, the tv goes blank and won't show
anymore! help please??!! I don't know what to do! thanks in advance for any
help

With two monitors,laptop & tv,try downloading- Exhibitor Pro From microsoft,
its specifically for running two monitors,tv included.You'll find it at WM
home page,
utilities section.

You'll need to go into your display settings and set it up to display on two
monitors. It will probably have a proprietary type of set up depending on
what type of video card you have. Go to control panel and choose display, and
then to the settings tab and then to the advanced tab. From there is where it
gets trickier for me to explain because of it depending on your video card.
But there should be a tab for "monitors", which is where you'll choose how
you want it to display on two monitors.
