Connecting laptop to TV using VGA cable

I connected my Sony Vaio laptop to a plasma TV using a VGA cable on both
ends. Configured the Desktop Properties/Display to extend desktop to TV and
rebooted. I can only see a blank blue screen on my TV. I used the Fn-F7
toggle key but nothing happens and I still see a blank blue screen on myTV.
I have XP Professional as OS.

Any help would be great.

Your TV needs to be set up to look for that input. Perhaps a "Line In"
setting ??

Thanks. I do not think that is the problem. I select SOURCE from the TV
menu, then select PC/VGA and the blank blue screen comes up. When I identify
the monitors from my laptop (Desktop/properties/settings), my laptop shows as
"1" and my TV shows as "2" on the TV screen. Thanks.

Umm, you extended the desktop, move the mouse to the right.
