when I rebooted our XP machine today I didn't have my icons, the folder
options don't appear the same and my IE favorites are not there, but when I
go to Documents and Setttings\Steve\Favorites they are there........

not sure what happened and what I have to do to get everything back the way
it was.........what I mean by folder options is,

I now have icons and not details......

hoping one of you have some ideas for me,

thanks

Steve, open Windows Explorer>select Views next to Folders and click on
the small arrow next to it. You should get a drop down menu where you can
select Details again.

yeah Rich I know I can do that, but how do I set it like that so I will
always view details everytime i use Windows Explorer?

now for the other problems I have it's like when I log on windows using my
profile it's not recognizing my settings if that makes sense.....

thanks again

Steve, try from Windows Explorer to select Tools>Folder Options>View.
There you can set the same for all folders by
clicking Apply to all Folders and look in Advanced Settings for items you
may want to enable or disable

Hi Steve

Are you certain you *are* logged in to your usual profile? If you go to
Start | Run and type in %userprofile% does it take you to \Documents and
Settings\Steve? If something has happened to corrupt your normal profile
and Windows has created another one for you, that could be why you're
not seeing your usual desktop, folder settings and Favorites.
