Conflicts of operating system version preventing from ugrading

I bought a new desktop which comes with Windows XP Home Edition. I want to
upgrade with Windows XP professional which I bought a long time ago (year
2001 or 20002). The problem is that since the Windows XP I have is older than
the current operating system (Windows XP home edition with SP2), it won't let
me install Windows XP Professional unless I do a clean install. I'm trying
to avoid a clean install in order to avoid installing all applications again.
Is there a way to obtain Windows XP Professional with SP2 CD since I already
have Windows XP professional CD without SP2?

Thanks,
HY

You can create your own. You can use a tool such as nLite from
http://nuhi.msfn.org/download.html to create a slipstreamed CD that has SP2
integrated already. A guide for using the tool can be found at

You can get the full SP2 version (eg the free CD, order from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx
)
and 'slipstream' it with your existing CD to make one including SP2.
