Conflicts of operating system preventing upgrade to Windows XP pro

I bought a new desktop which comes with Windows XP Home Edition. I want to
upgrade with Windows XP professional which I bought a long time ago (year
2001 or 20002). The problem is that since the Windows XP I have is older than
the current operating system (Windows XP home edition with SP2), it won't let
me install Windows XP Professional unless I do a clean install. I'm trying
to avoid a clean install in order to avoid installing all applications again.
Is there a way to obtain Windows XP Professional with SP2 CD since I already
have Windows XP professional CD without SP2?

Thanks,
HY

Hi,

Search on "slipstreaming". You will need to download SP2, then use it and
your existing WinXP Pro CD to create a new disk with SP2 slipstreamed into
it. There are literally hundreds of pages that will walk you through this.
Then you can use the new disk to perform the upgrade.
