Configure Windows XP fax with HP All-In-One Printer

Is there a way to set up Windows XP fax with my HP All-In-One printer so I
can receive faxes only via the PC and SEND faxes only with the All-In-One?
Since they are sharing the same phone line I'm not sure how to split these 2
functions between the 2 devices.

Not sure that I agree.
Assuming the telephone line is not also used for voice, which would complicate
matters somewhat.
If the all-in-one is set to answer after, say, 4 rings and the PC is set to
answer after a lesser number then all incoming faxes should be received by the
PC provided it is powered on.
I know very little about Windows FAX capability but would be surprised if it
cannot be set this way.
For sending, it is up to the operator to send via their chosen method.
Or have I misunderstood the question?

You are assuming the OP has a fax modem on the Windows XP HCL list installed
and working correctly. There is no evidence to that effect. I read the post
as saying he had only an AIO.

I do, indeed, have a modem in my PC and as far as I know, it is working
correctly. Could I, therefore, set up my AIO and my modem so received faxes
go only to my PC? If so, how? Do I set the number of rings to answer on the
modem lower than on the AIO or is there another solution?

I doubt there is another easy solution but that one should work provided the
FAX modem in your PC and Windows XP FAX are working correctly together.
