I have to use the Recovery Console for WindowsXP, but it
does not work. The instructions say to configure the
BIOS to boot from the CD drive. I son;t know how to do
that. I need help bad.

When you are booting, hit the delete key.

when the bios screen comes up, find the right section for
boot sequence and set it so that it boots from CD,A,C, or
whatever option it gives you. Hit esc, F10, Y and
continue on to boot from cd - make sure cd is in drive.

Thanks, did that. Still gives that stupid error message,
even though it is bootin from the CDROM. Thanks for
trying.

Well I got that part figured out, but it didn't help - I
still can't go any farther. Thanks to any who tried to
help.

You need to find from its manual what key the machine needs to have hit
when you first power on. Often DEL, maybe Ins or F2 or F10, depending
on the machine (the is often a message 'hit x to enter setup' if you
just bang several keys at once).

In the setup, when it appears look either:
A Specific Boot page (get to it with r-arrow), in that use the arrows to
highlight the CD drive and the number pad + to push it up top
or
On a BIOS Settings or Advanced CMOS settings, look for a line 'boot
order' and use PAgeDn to cycle the offerings round to CD-Rom;C:;,. . .

Either way, then hit ESC and take Exit and Save settings - have the CD
ready in the drive. You may then get a message asking you to hit a key
to confirm that you *do* want to boot from the CD

Instead of Setup, take the immediate R for Repair. Assume any password
requested is blank, and TAB over.Save
