Configurating the default photo editor

I would like to configure my computer so that IfranView, and not MS
Paint, is my default photo editor. How do I change this? Thanks.

Is IrfanView installed?

If so, open it and Options>Set File Associations.

Place a check in the type of files you want IrfanView to open.

A small list might be *.jpg, *.bmp, *.gif and *.png for sure.

You can change this with a registry change but I never recommend such in
this newsgroup.
Quite frankly, if you want to edit a photo with any software, open the
software and open the photo in it. Or, right click on the photo and click on
Open with on the opening menu and then click on the software you want on the
opening list.

Especially since there are three other safer ways to accomplish the job, and
one of them is the following:

What does this utility do that you can't do yourself (in far less time
that it takes to download anything)?
Jim

Nothing. It just saves me an extra step.
