Computer won't wake up

I am running Vista Home Premium on a new HP laptop. If I close the lid the
computer is supposed to go to sleep (or if I leave the lid up, it should go
to sleep in 45 minutes). When I open the lid, or push a key, or move the
mouse, the computer doesn't wake up. The screen is on, just the backlight,
but no picture. I always have to force a shutdown by holding down the power
button, and then I get a "windows did not shut down properly, etc" when it
boots up again. I've experimented with power settings and no luck. Has
anyone else experienced this.. Is it a Vista problem, or my HP computers
problem?

I have and HP DV6000 and mine does the same thing. I ended up having to
enable hybrid sleep mode so if my computer freaks out it can recover.
Check it out.

It's vista. I have the same problem. Once I get the XP Disk from sony I'm
going back. A clean Install on my home system has the same problem.
Microsoft can't help as they are aware of this problem and still have no
fix.
