Computer won't shutdown

When I select on my computer to turn turn off or shutdown
it shuts down and then restarts automatically. I leave it
on anyway but there are times when I do need it to turn
off. Any ideas. I'm running windows xp pro

After checking the site I unticked the automatically
restart option and everything now works fine. Thankyou
very much.

Hi Matt,

Suggestions:

Disable everything that reads 'Wake up' in the BIOS settings. Also, I have
seen this behavior if you have a CD/DVD in the drive during a shutdown.

This edit automatically ends tasks and timeouts that prevent programs from
shutting down and clears the Paging File on Exit.
