Hi

I just started to get this two days ago. When I go to shut down, the screen grays as normal, but when
I click on turn- off button the screen goes back to a normal screen and nothing happens. I checked the
event viewer, it said a driver vobiw did not startup. Any ideas what is going on? I can only shut-down
by turning off the power. Win Home XP. I have Norton anti-virus and Norton Firewall alls up to date.
Plus I have Spybot, Adware sw prof. I keep a clean machine, but seems something slipped in on me. I
googled for the driver and got no response. Searched for it and it came up with nothing. Looked in
help section found nothing as usual.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi
I have just found this

VOBIW.SYS is a System32 driver that Pinnacle loaded to make the UDF packet
writing work
(the ability to drop files on a CD like you can on a floppy). It never was
very reliable,

Have you any Pinnacle CD burning software on your machine?

If so i would remove it

Hi, Chas
You hit it right on the head, around 2 years ago I had Pinnacle and had a lot of trouble with it so I
deleted it. I had no trouble with it until now. I found a DLL file in a search of Pinnacle and deleted
it, Presto I can now shut down normally. What I can't understand is why did it take 2 yrs. to surface?
I want to thank you so much I would never had even suspected Pinnacle, to me it seems to be a program
to stay away from. I thank you much. Have a Merry Christmas.
