I installed a Techgear 2 port USB 2.0 card to use a Simpletech 250 gig
external drive.
After installation, system recognizes the drive just fine, I can
transfer files without a hiccup. The problem I run into is shutting
down. Even after going through the "stop" procedure on the external
drive, with the drive turned off, on system shutdown the CPU fan and
power supply fans keep running. Not clear if the internal drives
themselves are running. The only way to kill them is to cut power to
the computer. Upon restart, everything is fine.
This occurs once I've powered up the external drive. If I don't ever
fire up the h/d, everything is fine. But once I've opened the drive,
the system runs into this problem.
Running XP Home SP2, with all latest updates. Installed the latest
drivers from the techgear site.
Anyone ever run into this?
Thanks.
