At times when I am playing graphic intensive games the computer will
just turn off. I have looked at temperature and voltage and all seems
to be fine. What should I look for that could cause the computer to
suddenly turn off?

Win XP PRO with latest service packs and updates.

It turns out that the BIOS turn off temperature was set at 60 degrees
Celsius and the computer is running at about 55-58 degrees Celsius. Is
that to high for a P4 2.4 GHz with no hyper threading to be? The fan
is at 3600 RPM for the CPU.

If you are using a stock HSF, then your temps are normal. You could invest
in a better HSF to bring the temp down.
I run my Athlon XP 2400 at 60 C though I don't overclock and only play
Quake III and Unreal Tornament on occasion.
