Computer turns off for no reason

My notebook computer will turn off with no reason. The screen and power will
just go off. When I power back up, the computer will not go on.

When I let it sit for a few minutes, it will reboot with go into windows
normally with no normal warning "windows was not shut down properely".

Their is no sign of a crash and the event log has not history of the event
at that time.

I think it is a hardware problem with the heat of one of the elements
because it doesn't always happen, but seems to happen when the processor is
working harder using graphics like watching a movie.

Speak to the make of your laptop.

If you're confident, take your laptop apart and wipe all of the dust.

I have had that problem for the last 72 hours. My laptop just dies. No
battery warning (as it is plugged in) no blue screen, nothing. It just dies.
I pulled my Vista hardrive out and put my smaller XP back in, and after
downloading the updates, nothing seems to be working right. I think it is
the security download I just installed. I downloaded an update for Vista,
and that is when it started having problems.

After switching my drives, I downloaded all the updates and now it is doing
it again. I have had it with windows. This is ridiculous. My next purchase
is going to be a mac.

Thanks Harry
It turns out it was dust in my Heat Shrink that was causing the cpu to
overheat and turn off. I found instruction on
http://www.irisvista.com/tech/. My laptop is Toshiba p35-s611. They had a
complete disamble instruction for this problem.
Thanks
Paul

You guys also gotta remember to use your laptop on a bare table devoid of any
cloth that would smother the fan intake.
