Computer Turn Off Problem

When I am logged on and want to turn the computer off, I need to go through
the turn off procedure twice, waiting about 10-15 seconds between the first
and second time.

If I log on as another user, then I only need to go through the procedure
once.

What has been corrupted and how do I fix it?

Will,

I was not able to find anything that solved my problem on either of the
sites. Based upon the terminology used on those websites this a "Shutdown"
problem rather than a "Powerdown" problem.

Any further ideas?
