Good Day,
I am running Win2000 Pro. And my clock never
seems to be correct.Whenever I start up my computer for
the day, it is still at the same time I last shutdown the
computer the day before. What could I do to fix this
problem? Is it something serious with my computer, because
the computer runs fine except for that time error. Thank
you in advance for your time.

Shaun.

You may need to replace your BIOS battery. Check your motherboard manual
for information on how to do that.

Is my system in danger till I replace this battery, is
this a serious situation?
Thanks again in advance!

I honestly don't know for sure, but I do not believe so. I'd say it's kinda
like not having your your unswitched power wire hooked up to your car
stereo. With the switched wire still hooked up, your stereo will still turn
on, but your presets and clock won't be remembered.

If the battery is going flat then when the PC is powered off all the
BIOS settings are at risk of returning to the default settings. I would
suggest that you look in the BIOS and record all the settings so you can
restore them when you change the battery or it gives out completely.

Losing the time will mess up the timestamps on your backup files, your
scheduled events, dates on checks written in Quicken, etc. I suggest you go
to Radio Shack, purchase a 2032 battery for about $4 and spend the 5 minutes
to install it.
