My computer restarts itself about 30 seconds after its been shutdown. We
recently connected to broadband using an ethernet connection. If we unplug
this it doesn't restart itself. From looking on this site and speaking to the
broadband peeps it seems like we need to disable our 'wake on lan'. In our
BIOS? where is our BIOS? and how can i disable 'wake on lan' without
disturbing anything or anyone else in my compputer? can anyone give me step
by step instructions as i'm a little nieve about the inner soul/workings of
my lovely computer.

to find out how to access your BIOS, consult your computer manual. If it is
store bought, then check the manual or website. If it was custom built,
consult the motherboard website or manual on how to open BIOS.

To access BIOS, usually when the computer boots up, right after you turn it
on, you would see something on the screen like " press F2 to enter setup ".
That is how you would get into BIOS.

Getting to the BIOS setup can vary widely between systems. Common keys
are Del, F1 or F2, and usually during POST (Power On Self Test) the
display will show soemthing like "Press DEL to enter setup". Consult the
systemboard manual to be sure if in doubt.
