Computer slow

My computer has been very slow for the past couple of weeks. I have deleted
all Temporary files (internet and otherwise), all cookies, etc., have
completed a disc scan and defrag. Yesterday I received a warning box that my
virtual memory was low and that windows was going to do something to give me
more memory. I looked at my drive space and out of 37.2 GB, I have only
30.5GB left. Does one have anything to do with the other? I don't download
music, videos or anything for that matter. I do not have more than two
programs running at the same time, if that. I do have quite a few photos on
my computer. Could this be the problem? I know other people who have as
many photos as I do and they don't seem to have this problem. Any help would
be appreciated.

I am running Windows XP
Insight cable broadband connection
Webroot Spyware
Norton Antivirus

If the 30.5 GB is FREE space, your hard drive has plenty of free space.
The message you saw is informational & is not a big (huge) problem. XP will (and did) expand your virtual memory.

I'd like for you to run XP's System Information tool. From the Start menu, select All programs , then select Accessories, then System Tools , and then System Information.
When it finishes collecting information, it will display a lot of information about your system.

Look at these lines: Total Physical memory, Total Virtual memory, Available Virtual memory, AND Page File Space
Please write those down & report back.

The message you saw was simply saying: Hey, we need to expand the Page File (and XP would then adjust it up --- as long as there is more free space). XP takes care to expand as needed (within bounds of any upper limit that is set)
