computer shutting down in 5 minutes warning

Hi everyone

I am running xp pro.
Every so often i get a message that pops up on the screen saying something
to these words (sorry i am not well and cant remember the exact wording)

your computer needs to install updates and will shut down in 5 minutes

a 5 minute timer then pops up on the screen and counts down. I have no other
option but to either close down there and then or wait for the 5 minutes to
count down and let the computer close down on its own. i can not stop this
from happening...........................

please someone help me as its driving me insane!!!!!!
