I am having a problem at work with a computer that is restarting by itself
while it is not in use at all. It's fine during the day when the user is
actually using the computer... but at night it keeps rebooting itself. The
problem began after swapping out the hard drive into a new PC (both Dell
Optiplex GX260), due to a power supply failure.

It rebooted itself 15 times today so far, 14 of them last night seperated by
about 25 minutes each. I re-installed SP3 (we do not yet have SP4 in
production where I work) about 6:00 P.M. and it happened again at 6:47 P.M.
so that did not solve the problem.

Here is the event that is logged:

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000d1
(0x01c3a3f7, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x81874028). Microsoft Windows 2000
[v15.2195]. A dump was saved in: C:\WINNT\Minidump\Mini110503-15.dmp.

I am making the said dump accessible from this location:
http://www.rentedhouse.org/Mini110503-15.dmp

I am making a listing of pstat.exe run from the computer accessible from
this location:
http://www.rentedhouse.org/pstat.txt

I tried to interpret the data from the dump to figure out what's going
on, but I've never done that before, so I'm having trouble.

Any advice or suggestions are very much appreciated. The MS KB hasn't been
much help either. A lot of hits for these types of events.

Thanks in advance,
Jon Webb

I have such experience. I don't know whether it meets your
case.

For me, the server (Pentium) is installed Oracle DB and
PCanywhere 9.x, then the server is rebooted automatically
(just like you).

Then I reinstall the server again with PCanywhere 10.x
It solves the problem.

I had the same problem. I worked and tried different
things to no avail. I'm on a network and wnet under
device manager and viewed 'hidden devices'.

Well, I found and Turned Off:

Network Adapters:
Direct Parallel, WAN Miniport - three of them.

Since I did that and installed spyware, have not had a
problem.

Hope this helps!

Tom
