computer shuts down on its own

I hope that someone can give me some help. I have a fairly new computer.
For awhile its performence has been quite poor. When I try to burn cds (data
or audio) the first couple of items will burn but the others won't, though
I'm told that the burn has been successful. Now I'm having a new issue.
After about an hour of use (though this can vary) my computer will
automatically turn off. No shut down or hibernate, but simply an instant
death, like it got tired and has had enough. If I wait an hour, I can
restart it and get about another hour's use out of it. I can't detect any
viruses (though I'm inexperienced at this) and my device manager says that
all hardware is working well.

Hi

If the PC is still under warranty, contact your supplier to see if they can
help. Do you see any error messages, if not have a look in the Event Viewer
for any entries that may point towards the problem.

This sounds like your computer is overheating and shutting down to protect
the system. Have it looked at immediately! Every time you use it, you take
the chance of permanently damaging your computer.
