Computer Shutdown

What might cause a Presario S4020WM to automatically lock
up and then power off. The computer locks up, then beeps
once and then shuts off, right in the middle of other
tasks. It seems to happen at roughly the same time each
day, give or take ten minutes. The system will power back
on, but is locked up. It takes numerous attempts before
the system will let us in. Any ideas?

Possibly overheating from the brief description of your problem.

Check fans, PSU... and don't forget the fan on the CPU.
