Computer restarts halfway through defrag

Well, not even halfway through a defrag. It hits 15% or
so, then restarts on it's own. I'm doing the GUI defrag,
not just typing "defrag C:" into a command prompt.
I have 0 programs running, no internet/network stuff going
on, and was wondering if anyone knows why it does that...
and also why it always ends the defrag with like 30% file
fragmentation (is that even a word?).
Hoping to find a way to knock this down to a respectable
level of defragmentation as well as make my computer not
restart.
Thanks a lot

Hi Andrew,

Press F8 while booting up your system to access
Window in SAFE MODE. That should allow you
to run your defragmentation without interruptions. :-)

.
you must have at least 17% of free space available in
the drive to defrag properly if this is the case try
uninstalling some large memory progs that you can re-
install later
