Computer refuses to delete empty folder

I've uninstalled several programs recently. There was no problem with the
uninstall, but some of them have left an empty folder in my Program Files.
I tried to delete this useless folder, but I get an "Access denied"
response. Since I am the sole owner and user of this computer, it would
seem that I should be able to delete anything--certainly if I insist. :)
How do I do it?

Thanks,

Norm Strong

Without knowing what the programs were and the details of the folders:

1. Reboot the machine if you haven't already done so. Then try to delete
them. If that doesn't work...

2. Try to delete the folders from Safe Mode.

You might be the owner of the computer but that doesn't necessarily mean
that you are (or should be!) the owner of all the files or folders on
your computer. ;-)

You have to grant yourself adequate permissions to delete files or
folders, do do so you must have administrative privileges. See one of
these methods:

Cacls
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/cacls.mspx?mfr=true

(For help on CACLS do cacls /? at the command prompt.)

Typical syntax:
cacls "C:\Some Folder Name" /E /G yourusername:F

Do you have hidden and system files made viewable in windows explorer?

The folder might not be empty
