Computer reboots when I'm on Windows IM

I just got a new HP 350N (Windows XP) and was on a dial up internet connection. Everything ran fine (but slow). Anyway, I switched over to Adelphia DSL (Mototrola Surfboard SB5100 Cable Modem). Since the day the DSL was turned on, my computer keeps rebooting. It creates an error message "Error caused by a device driver"

I've downloaded all the latest drivers available for Windows XP, but I'm still having the problem. I'm not real tech savvy, so any help would be great.

What EXACTLY are you doing when it reboots? Is it always the same thing, or
in different programs?
